Step By Step Derma Roller Instructions
Step 1. Cleaning
Cleanse the skin well with a cleanser that’s suitable to your skin type. Before every skin needling treatment rinse the derma roller head under hot running water.
Step 2. Numbing
Before applying the numbing agent:
- Cleanse thoroughly whole dermarolling area
- Pat your face dry with a towel
- Wear gloves to protect your skin from any infections and apply a small amount of numbing cream, it should leave a thin beige layer on your skin.
- Do not cover the skin with cling wrap.
- Leave the numbing cream on for about 20-20 minutes. Now when your skin is prepared for micro-needling or any other cosmetic treatment that required numbing.
- Wipe the cream off, and then you can safely continue with the derma-rolling procedure.
Step 3. Derma Rolling
Pull the skin a little tight with the hand not holding the derma roller. With the other hand, start rolling the derma roller in one direction from left to right, top to bottom, and diagonally distributing even pressure as seen on the picture below.
Be careful not to impose too much needle pressure in the direction. Especially, you must avoid imposing excessive stimulation on the eye area and cheekbones.
Step 4. Skin Care
Apply the appropriate skin care serum evenly on the treated area. Leave it on skin for atleast 20-30 minutes before applying other skin care products.
Step 5. Moisturizing & Soothing
Apply a soothing and moisturizing solution or facial mask on the stimulated, red area.
Step 6. After care
After every use rinse the derma roller head under hot running water. For better disinfecting, a pure alcohol may also be used, preferably with atleast 70% alcohol (leave the skin roller head in to the alcohol for a few minutes, not longer), you may always use a disinfectant solutions that are available at house-hold stores.
It is important to keep treated area out of the sun in the first week after treatment. A SPF30+ sunscreen is recommended, along with collagen-enriching creams that are fortified with Vitamins C and A.
Should the skin feel sensitive after a skin needling treatment, it is advised not to use the derma roller again until the skin feels comfortable. The tiny holes formed from the skin needling, in the horny layer seal naturally within a day. Should you suffer from a skin rash or irritation as a result of using the product, cease to use the product and please consult a skin care professional or medical doctor.
Skin needling is not suitable for use on the following skin conditions
Skin needling scar reduction therapy with derma rollers is not recommended for those with active infections, chronic skin disorders, blood clotting problems, poor healing or skin malignancies, active acne, eczema, rosacea, psoriasis, severe solar keratosis and raised moles or warts.
